The UNHCR reported that approximately 7.9 million people were displaced due to flooding in Pakistan. The highest displacement rates were observed in the Sindh region, where over 40% of the affected population had to leave their homes. Specific districts with the highest proportions of displaced individuals included Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Nowshero Feroze, Sanghar, and Shaheed Benazirabad. In January 2023, a UNOCHA report indicated that the number of displaced people in Sindh had decreased significantly, with over 89,000 individuals still displaced as of January 2, 2023. This was a notable drop from the 6.5 million people who were displaced in early September. The displaced individuals were spread across ten districts, namely Dadu, ShikarPur, Matiari, Mirpur Khas, Jaccobabad, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, Khairpur, and Karachi. Among these, Dadu had the highest number of IDPs, with 41,742, while Karachi had the lowest, with 356 IDPs.
