Over the past 25 years leading up to 2015, global urbanization saw a 28% increase in the population residing in informal urban areas (UN Habitat). With more than 100 million people displaced internally due to conflict in 2022, over 200 million people are projected to internally migrate due to climate change by 2050 (WB). The report investigates climate-induced migration and conflict in Honduras, Jordan, and Pakistan. In Pakistan, frequent climate disasters and floods contribute to the growth of informal peri-urban settlements. The report concludes with recommendations emphasizing inclusive urban development, local institution strengthening, essential service provision, and climate adaptation measures to address these complex issues.
