In August and September 2010, Pakistan experienced a devastating flood that affected 20 million people, forcing over 7 million of them to leave their homes. While most of those displaced returned to their homes once the floodwaters receded, many had to endure difficult conditions as over 1.9 million houses were damaged or destroyed nationwide. The displacement was relatively short-lived for most, typically lasting about a month. However, a significant number of people, especially in the province of Sindh, remained homeless, as it suffered the most extensive damage with over 1.1 million houses affected.
